Michael Crofford Biography

Michael Crofford comes from a family line of racing. Our grandfather, Norris Legg – was a factory driver for Indian Motorcycles in the ‘40’s and 50’s. A 3 time National Champion he competed on many tracks around the nation as well as running many times on Daytona Beach. Our father, Mike Crofford also competed in racing winning many events at Meyer Speedway with Terry Labonte in Houston and competed on the NASCAR circuit before an accident moved him into building race cars.

At the age of 10 Michael started competing on a local level of competitive karting and advanced to a national level by the end of his first season. Our father started him out with average equipment and taught him to not only drive but work on it and set it up to be competitive. This lesson is priceless now because it taught Michael to set goals and advance at a pace set by your talent and knowledge as well as gave him a respect for his equipment. This respect helped Michael mature as a driver and earned him much praise from fellow racers. From this he developed strong bonds with many well known racing families today.

His move into Super Late Models came at age 17 and was delivered from our father with the same principals as karting. Yet, Michael’s knowledge, talent, patience, respect and relationships helped him transition into a competitive driver very rapidly. His first Super Late Model Race he finished 2nd and that year was presented with the very honorable ‘Rookie of the Year’ award.

Over the last 9 years Michael’s knowledge of the technical/mechanical ways of setting up a race car, his talent on the track, his maturity on the track, his maturity off the track have surpassed the level of racing he currently competes in. As a team we are looking toward the future in other circuits which are more competitive and seek to develop relationships with sponsors to grow with our team. With any relationship we establish for sponsorship, we focus on making them mutually-beneficial and long-term. It is our goal to grow into NASCAR successfully. Our focus, goals and bonds as a team and family are very strong and we welcome sponsorships to our team to help us reach our goals with great pride and integrity. Our success depends on our sponsors and we want them to feel we have been a major part of their success as well.
